Git Commits

7f0cb1a feat(mobile): add trust attestation screen and ICN context
c7387d1 feat(mobile): add offline queue support for trust attestations
6aa14be docs: update mobile trust integration progress

User Experience Flow

1. User opens app → HomeScreen
2. Clicks Trust (🤝) button
3. TrustAttestationScreen loads
   ├── Enter/select target DID
   ├── Adjust trust score slider
   └── Add context/reason
4. Click "Submit Trust Attestation"
5. Hook attempts POST /v1/trust/attest
├── If online: Success → Navigate back
└── If offline: Queue → Success (will retry)
6. Toast notification confirms

Architecture Decisions

Why Context Provider?

  • Clean dependency injection
  • Type-safe client access
  • Easier testing and mocking
  • Follows React best practices

Why Offline Queue?

  • Mobile users often have spotty connections
  • Don't want to lose user input
  • Transparent retry improves UX
  • Leverages existing QueueManager

Why Separate Screen?

  • Complex UI warrants dedicated screen
  • Can be deep-linked from profiles
  • Reusable across app
  • Better navigation patterns

Next Phase: Trust Graph Visualization

Planned Features

  • Visual trust network component
  • D3.js or react-native-svg rendering
  • Interactive node exploration
  • Show direct and transitive trust
  • Trust score badges on profiles
  • Real-time trust updates via WebSocket

Integration Points

  • HomeScreen: Show trust score with TrustBadge
  • Profile screens: Show trust attestations received
  • Governance: Weight votes by trust score
  • Metrics: Trust score distribution histograms

Lessons Learned

  1. TypeScript Strictness Helps: Caught many potential runtime errors
  2. Context Pattern Scales Well: Easy to add providers for other features
  3. Hooks Simplify State: useTrustAttestation encapsulates all logic
  4. Queue Manager Rocks: Existing infra made offline trivial
  5. Incremental Commits: Small, focused commits easier to review

Performance Notes

  • Trust attestations are lightweight (< 1KB)
  • Queue operations are async (non-blocking UI)
  • Network requests use fetch with proper error handling
  • No unnecessary re-renders (proper useCallback/useMemo usage)

Security Notes

  • All trust operations require authentication
  • DIDs validated on client and server
  • Trust scores clamped to 0.0-1.0 range
  • Context strings sanitized on backend
  • Queue persists encrypted in secure storage

Known Issues / TODOs

  • Add loading skeleton to TrustAttestationScreen
  • Implement member search/autocomplete
  • Add trust score validation feedback (live)
  • Show queued operations in UI with status
  • Add trust network graph component
  • Wire WebSocket events for real-time updates

Documentation Updates

  • Created MOBILE_TRUST_INTEGRATION.md with full details
  • Inline JSDoc comments on all new hooks
  • TypeScript types documented
  • README examples need updating

Deployment Readiness

Current Status: ALPHA-READY

  • ✅ Core functionality complete
  • ✅ Error handling robust
  • ✅ Offline support working
  • ✅ Tests passing
  • ⚠️ Need UI polish (loading states, animations)
  • ⚠️ Need E2E tests
  • ⚠️ Need trust graph visualization

Blockers for Beta: None critical

Estimated Time to Beta: 2-3 more sessions

  1. Trust graph visualization (1 session)
  2. UI polish + E2E tests (1 session)
  3. Integration testing + fixes (1 session)
